Liberty 28 'Mi Casa'
This boat is a cutter rigged 'pocket cruiser' built in 1979 by Libery Yachts in Florida.
With a weight of 12,000 lb. and a full keel at 4,800 lb. it is a true blue water boat,
not very fast but extremely stable, thus it is much easier to handle for a single person
I ran across her sitting in a boat yard in Palmas del Mar in 2001, and despite the neglected
appearance I knew this was the right boat for me.
First look at boat.
Almost ready to leave.
After a new bottom paint job I started unpacking all the topside parts from out of the cabin
and after a few head scratching moments (the previous owner was 2,000 miles away) I managed
to get her ready for the short voyage to Fajardo, her present home.
Back into the water after a long layup.
After a trip up the eastern coast of Puerto Rico and a close encounter with a sand bank
(there is something to be said about full keels) we arrived at night at the Puerto Chico
Marina. With a boat right across the bay from my condo I now have all the fun (and all the work)
associated with it.
Home on the water and home on the beach.
My first visitor.
Setting sails to leave harbor (El Conquistador Marina Lanais on the left, Icacos behind).
Main Cabin looking in from companionway.
Starboard berth and Nav Station.
Port berth and galley.
Vee berth (lots of storage).
Companionway from cockpit.
Cockpit with tiller.
In new permanent slip (ignore white socks and sneakers, no more).
